The Nature of Nature!

What is the natural state of Nature, all the physical as well as the material world around us?

If there is no external source of light present, it is pitch dark.

Even if it is maintained or preserved well, everything here tends to degenerate & perish. It inevitably falls apart with the passing of time.

It is brutal and uncertain. You never know what will happen next. And as it changes its course of progression, its irreversible, no matter how much we try to prevent the change, no matter whether we like it or not. It just happens irrespectively.

Its never constant and keeps changing all the time. It tends to fade away with time. It doesn’t stay in one place. Its always moving and shifting into different forms. Its fragile.

Nothing here is permanent. Everything is perishable!

Basically, Nature is just like Time, constantly moving forward, ever changing, leaving the past behind, becoming the present, and then again moving ahead towards the unpredictable future. It waits for none. It stays with none.

That’s the true nature of the material world.

And as is nature temporary and perishable in its essence, so is everything that is manufactured or extracted from nature, and so is the happiness that we all derive from acquiring it or being associated with it, temporary and perishable. None of it stays!

If the source itself is temporary, how can something that originates from that very source be permanent?!

That is why none of us, in the history of mankind, has ever been able to possess that lasting happiness or peace we always have been craving for. We always have been trying to extract our happiness and satisfaction from nature itself or its variations. But it eludes us.

Because everything we see here comes from that same temporary nature.

The very character of this material world, i.e. nature, is darkness and lifeless. It needs external light and life in order to animate and experience it. The play is on only till that external light or conscious life energy is present. The moment these leaves, everything falls apart immediately. We are left with nothing but dead remains.

Even the colours (that gives us the very sense of beauty around us) only exist in our mind. Its just a kind of illusion created by our brain. Which means, all the beauty that we see and experience here are mere delusions and nothing else.

Its like the mirage. It won’t quench our thirst!

So… If we want true and lasting happiness and peace, we need to dig deeper and find the source of light & life. We need to take a more introspective look in to our lives and ourselves. Only then we can solve he puzzle of eternal happiness and peace!

Understanding the impermanence of nature can help people reduce attachment and its attendant suffering. We need to realize the fact that everything we have or possess, whether it a person, a thing or a particular emotion, it will all go away. We cannot hold on to anything. And if we try, we will be disappointed and will suffer.
